Honduras

I’M BACK…Oh what a wonderful time I had in Honduras. No visits to the emergency room, I had many laughs with my teammates, did some hard work, meet some wonderful people and some great kids. Best of all, I got to see, personally, the awesome power of God working through the hands of his children. If you’ve ever been on a mission trip I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. God goes to work before we even get on the plane, raising money for needs not yet realized and, answering prayers we aren’t even aware of. Once our feet land on foreign soil we soon realize that what we came to do is only a part of what God has planned. And as the days go by and we see those plans slowly unfold and play out to perfection…well…it is a truly amazing experience.

As far as the culture and people, Hondurans are similar to Salvadorians. Both countries have a beautiful culture and are so passionate for the Lord. They are also very open and welcoming, especially with their faith. I met one woman in particular that expressed a very real and close walk with God. I had never met anyone who so open about their dependence on God and I thought this is where we’re all supposed to be. This was what it was like before the fall, before man decided he could do things on his own. Isn’t that what we all long for…to regain that love and trust…to be at a point in our relationship with God that we relinquish our independence and let Him take the wheel. I wish I could say I’ve reached that point totally, but I’d be lying. I’m a stubborn sort. I usually have to do things my way and then when I make a mess of things – then I turn to it over to God, and I can almost hear Him say, “Are you ever going to learn?” If you want to see pics from our trip click on the link. There is also pics from our trips to El Salvador and Jamaica.
